360 My Experience at Zero Latency

In the last article, we explored the music and sports industry as a driver for VR into the mass market. Now, I want to track-back to the current state of VR. I am going to talk about Hyper-Reality, which is the most advance version of VR. It is a full immersion, wireless, social and warehouse-scale VR experience.

Here are the examples:

The Void

This was the first hyper-reality experience I came across. The video I saw completely blew my mind and I am sure it would’ve done to you too. The freedom to roam around a huge room and the 4D physical sensation of what happens during the experience is out of this world (Literally). On top of that, you experience this with your friends and that just completes the package. The limitations of VR in the mass market, the cable, space, anti-sociality and focus on sight and no other senses are basically overcome with Hyper-Reality experience.

It is located in New York, Dubai and Lindon and will soon be running in more cities. As an exclusive experience, the tickets are $30 for around 30 minutes of gameplay is reasonable. So if you happen to be around, give it a go!

Zero Latency

I have personally tried this experience and it surpassed my expectations. It was social, smooth and the equipment did not intervene with play. Although it does not have the 4D machines blowing wind at you and the images were a little pixelated, I had a great time.

It is located in Madrid, Melbourne, Tokyo, Orlando, Pocono and Wisconsin Dells. It cost $88 each which I believe is quite expensive compare to The Void. If you have spare cash, it’s worth a shot though!

Tick Tock Unlock

Tick Tock Unlock’s Hyper-Reality experience in Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre has the same concept as The Void. It recently opened and only cost £12.50 per person which is significantly cheaper than the other companies. However, the game time only last around 15 minutes.

Nomadic VR

Nomandic VR

This is an upcoming Hyper-Reality company that aims to transform any empty space to create this experience. They are based in California and are looking for location and content partners. Recently, they built a shopping experience in Hong Kong for Hung Hom Shopping mall.

Conclusion

This is the time when we say the future is now. There is nothing in this world right now that can match a hyper-reality experience and we will continue to see this grow around the world. If you have the luck to try it, do it!
